This is the back of the German Baker's House, accessed by the courtyard of the Hisinger apartment. The view is toward the southeast corner of the inside courtyard. Berzelius' laboratory-kitchen were on the second floor of the building to the right. The windows belong to his kitchen and laboratory. In this laboratory Berzelius performed his famous atomic weight research and his student Johan August Arfedson discovered lithium in 1817. The building was torn down in 1907.
